The congress, which took place in May 2015, brought 4,100 delegates to Singapore for a scientific programme featuring over 170 sessions, 1,800 contributors and a trade show with over 100 exhibitors and sponsors. The award recognises exceptional achievements in delivering excellence and was announced in a ceremony at the Singapore Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

The award was accepted on behalf of WCPT by Dinesh Verma and Sin Yi Lee of the Singapore Physiotherapy Association, who praised the achievement of the three other finalists and thanked everyone who made the congress possible.

“We feel honoured to have our profession emerge as the winner amongst several industry competitors,” said Mr Verma. “Thanks to all team members and delegates who made this possible. This is the ultimate reward for unconditional hard work.”

During the judging rounds Tracy Bury, WCPT’s director of professional policy and congress lead, highlighted the key role that all congress suppliers and service providers made as part of the wider team behind the congress’ success.

The WCPT Congress beat competition from the European Society for Medical Oncology, the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and Sibos, a world-leading financial services event.

WCPT chief executive Jonathon Kruger has welcomed the award, saying that it confirms the congress’ status as the leading international event for the global physical therapy community.
